Living Stations of the Cross

We are so proud of our Confirmation students who presented the “Living Stations of the Cross” as part of the Lenten Ecumenical Service held at St. Jerome recently. They did an absolutely amazing job! If you’d like to check out the pictures,  you can find one from the Living Stations on the website here or on the St. Jerome Facebook page here.

Confirmation

Please keep our 10th Grade Confirmation students in your prayers as they begin their final weeks of preparation for their Confirmation coming up in April. Let them be moved by the power of the Holy Spirit!  Pictures from the Confirmation Retreat can be found on the website here or on the St. Jerome Facebook page here.

First Communion

Please also keep your prayers our First Communicants who will receive Jesus for the very first time on Sunday, May 7th at the 11 am Mass.  Pictures from the Eucharist Formation Retreat can be found on the website here or on the St. Jerome Facebook page here.  We pray that Our Lord, Jesus Christ will guide them as they begin their final preparations to receive this most wonderful Sacrament. May the Holy Mother of God help us to instill in our children a real and meaningful love for Jesus truly present in the Blessed Sacrament. We pray also that this love for the Eucharistic Heart of Jesus only grow with each passing year.

St. Patrick’s Day Dispensation

Since the feast of St. Patrick falls on a Friday during Lent this year, Bishop Morlino, along with the other bishops in Wisconsin have given a dispensation from abstaining from meat on March 17th, 2017.   He urged everyone “to perform some salutary work of penance or charity that day so that they might unite themselves more perfectly with the suffering and death of our Lord.”   Click below for the full rescript from Bishop Morlino.

Feast of the Immaculate Conception
Tuesday, December 8th is the Feast of the Immaculate Conception, which is a Holy Day of Obligation.   In teaching that Mary was conceived immaculate, the Catholic Church teaches that from the very moment of her conception, the Blessed Virgin Mary was free from all stain of original sin. This simply means that from the beginning, she was in a state of grace, sharing in God’s own life, and that she was free from the sinful inclinations, which have beset human nature after the fall. Mass times are:  8:20 am at St. Jerome, 5:30 pm at St. Patrick, and 7 pm at St. Jerome.

Knights of Columbus Christmas Poster Contest

Since we had to cancel RE classes on November 15th, the information and paper went home yesterday with the students in Grades 1-6.  (Parents of 1st graders—please watch for a separate email from Stephanie regarding the posters.)  .  The theme for the posters is, “The True Meaning of Christmas.”   Posters will be due back to St. Jerome by Sunday, December 13th, as they will be judged by the Knights of Columbus right away.  All of the students did a wonderful job with their posters last year!

Baby Bottles for Life!

Please consider taking a baby bottle from the basket in the entryway of the church and putting your spare change it in during October–Respect Life Month.  All the money collected will be given to Care Net/Elizabeth House a pro-life organization helping women and families.  All bottles should be returned by October 26th.  Thanks for your support of life!

Catechist Changes

We have had some changes with some of our classes.  Mrs. Cathy Moore who has taught 5th grade RE for several years has moved up to 7th grade now, and Peggy Mickelson, who has helped out as an aide for a number of years will now be teaching 5th grade.  Angie Andler will be assisting Rose Schulze in 1st grade.  We are so fortunate to have a wonderful group of catechists and aides dedicated to passing on our Catholic faith to the youth of our parish!

New Catechist

A great big thank you goes out to Sy Weisensel for his many years of dedication as our 7th grade catechist!  Sy is going to be very busy this year with planning BINGO with the Knights of Columbus and as chairperson for the Fall Festival, so he is not going to be teaching this year.  We welcome Angie Andler as our new 7th grade catechist!
